# Market Ownership

Players can create markets in their settlements and spawn villagers in their markets. Markets allow players to easily earn passive income, as market owners earn 10% profit on all market trading revenue. For example, if a player buys an item from a villager in your market for 10 emeralds then you will automatically earn 1 emerald on that trade as profit. Unlike homes and shops, markets cannot be sold or rented as they are owned exclusively and permanently by the settlement owner.

### Creating Markets

Settlement owners can create markets in their settlements using the `/market create` command while standing in a plot claimed by their settlement. Settlement owners can then claim additional plots for the market using the `/market claim` command while standing in a plot adjacent to the market. All markets must be separated from other homes, shops, and markets by at least one plot.

### Spawning Villagers

Settlement owners can spawn villagers in their markets using the `/pet villager` command. Players will be charged 25,000 emeralds for each villager that they spawn. Villagers are not allowed to leave markets, and will be teleported back to the market spawn if they attempt to leave the market.

{% hint style="info" %}
Villagers are the most expensive thing that players can buy on the server.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://about.foundationcraft.com/land-management/market-ownership.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
