Players can use shops to trade items with other players for emeralds. This is possible using chest shops, which allow other players to buy or sell specific items to or from your shop by clicking on signs. Shops themselves can also be rented or sold to other players for emeralds.
Settlement owners can create shops in their settlements using the /shop create
command. You must be standing in a settlement that you own to use this command. You can then claim additional plots for the shop using /shop claim
while standing in a plot near your shop. Each shop in your settlement must be separated from other shops and homes by at least one plot.
Chest shops are chests with signs on them. The sign on the chest is a contract between the buyer and seller defining what is being bought or sold and for how much. The first line on the sign indicates whether the chest shop is buying or selling. The remaining lines indicate what item is being bought or sold and for how many emeralds. Chest shops will only work if they are in a plot claimed by a shop.
Shop owners can use the /shop rent <amount>
command to make their shop available for rent to other players. Shops for rent are discoverable when using the /explore shops forrent
command. Shop renters have exclusive access to protected storage while renting a shop.
For example, you can use /shop rent 25
while standing in a shop that you own to start renting the shop for 25 emeralds per day. You can stop renting your shop at any time, as long as the shop is not actively being rented by another player. The server will automatically collect rent from shop renters every 24 hours. Shop renters will automatically be evicted from the shop if they fail to pay rent.
Players are not allowed to build in rented shops. Shop owners cannot build or access protected storage in shops which are being rented by another player.
Shop owners can sell their shops to other players for emeralds. Selling a shop allows players to permanently transfer ownership of their shop to another player for a one-time fee.
Use /shop sell <amount>
to start selling one of your shops. Shops for sale are discoverable when using the /explore shops forsale
command. Once a shop has been sold, ownership of the shop is transferred to the new shop owner meaning that the previous shop owner will no longer be able to build or access protected storage in the shop.
Shops are valuable, and shop ownership is permanent! Make sure to sell your shop for a price that justifies permanent ownership of the shop.
Buying shops allows players to purchase protected land in settlements for emeralds with the option of then renting or reselling the shop to other players for emeralds. Players can flip shops for a profit by buying a shop, fixing it up, and then reselling it for more emeralds than they bought it for.
Players can find shops to buy using the /explore shop forsale
command. Use this command multiple times to explore all shops for sale on the server. Players can use the /shop buy
command to purchase a shop. If there are no shops for sale then you always have the option of creating a new settlement, as settlement owners can create both homes and shops in their settlements.
Shops in large settlements with lots of foot traffic are generally worth more emeralds.
Shops can be renamed by the current shop owner using the /shop rename <name>
command. Players can teleport to shops using the /shop spawn <name>
command.
Players can find shops on the server using the /explore shops
command.
Players can also save shops using the /shop save
command and teleport back to their saved shops using the /shop list
command.
